Oxycodone Testing

Oxycodone Testing

Reduce the Likelihood of False Negatives

Oxycodone has rapidly become a drug of choice for addicts due to its propensity to yield false negatives when detected by screening. That’s why Franey Medical Lab, in our efforts to continually provide the most precise testing services available, has developed a procedure to significantly reduce the likelihood of false negatives.

Oxycodone is a semisynthetic opiod agonist derived from thebaine. It is as potent as morphine when administered parenterally but has a higher oral:parenteral efficacy ratio. Most screening procedures for opiates have a 2000 ng/ml cutoff to be called positive. Oxycodone is very weakly reactive to the morphine antibodies used in these screens and in almost all cases will yield a negative result. It has been estimated that you would need a level of 20,000 ng/ml of oxycodone before a screen would read positive for opiates. With these results, one can see why oxycodone has become the drug of choice for many addicts.

We can provide you with accurate screening results and rapid turnaround. Franey Medical Lab has a specific screening and quantitation procedure for oxycodone in urine, which is performed by mass spectrometry. Testing is done on a daily basis so results are available within 24 hours.
