Franey Medical Labs: Specializing in Drug Testing
Company Overview
Specializing in Drugs of Abuse Testing
Franey Medical Lab has been in business since January of 1979, performing as a
full function laboratory service until July of 2001. At that time, it sold most
of its assets to a larger lab, kept one of its three laboratory licenses, and
continued on as a laboratory specializing in drugs of abuse testing and
monitoring. This has enabled Franey Medical Lab to concentrate on improving and
speeding up the detection of many drugs of abuse.
In 2003, the lab was recognized by the Canadian Society for Clinical Chemistry, and the American Association for Mass Spectroscopy for its participation in a round table discussion and a poster presentation for the labs work on Fentanyl and Norfentanyl detection and quantitation by LC/MS.
Recently, the lab developed and completed a rapid procedure for quantitation of Buprenorphine/Norbuprenorphine levels in urine by HPLC/MS.
Certifications
Franey Medical Lab is proud that it employs
collectors that have achieved the Certified Professional Collector (CPCTM)
and/or Certified Professional Collector Trainer (CPCTTM) designations through
the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) Collector
Certification Program. This rigorous certification program requires experience
in performing specimen collections, training of collection personnel to become
proficient in urine specimen collections for drug testing in the work place, as
well as a comprehensive examination to test the proficiency level of the
individual collector. By employing Certified Professional Collectors (CPCTM)
and Certified Professional Collector Trainers (CPCTTM), Franey Medical Lab can
ensure its clients that specimen collections are performed in a professional
and consistent manner, maintaining confidentiality for the donor and security,
integrity and control of the specimen.
Accreditation
As an Accredited Collection Facility, Franey
Medical Laboratories is dedicated to providing its clients with superior
collection services, which ensure the integrity of the specimen and the privacy
of the donor. Franey Medical Lab has successfully met the requirements of the
Accredited Collection Facility Program, administered by the Drug & Alcohol
Testing Industry Association (DATIA), which was created by quality-oriented
leaders in the drug and alcohol testing industry interested in raising the
level of accuracy in urine specimen collections.
The Accredited Collection Facility Program involves upholding the highest professional standards in the following two main areas:
- The collection facility and its operation and
- The collection facility's personnel
To obtain accredited status, collection facilities are required to adhere to strict standards in areas such as regulatory compliance, company services standards, specimen handling, operational practices, business ethics, and facility equipment, All accredited collection facilities are also required to maintain a staff of Certified Professional Collectors (CPCTM) that are formally trained in DATIAs Collector Training Course, and a Certified Professional Collector Trainer (CPCTTM).
One of the most frustrating and costly aspects of workplace drug testing is the high incidence of rejected specimens due to errors at the collection site. As an Accredited Collection Facility staffed with well-trained collectors, we can assure our clients that Franey Medical Lab maintains a minimal number of rejected specimens, thereby saving everyone time and resources.
